India and South Africa Gearing Up for Upcoming Cricket Tournament

The India vs. South Africa’s upcoming cricket series is a highly anticipated one and two of the most finest teams in the world cricket are going to square off against one another for two long months. This is going to be a two-month long cricket extravaganza for all the cricket lovers. Starting from October 2nd, it will go on till 7th of December. There will be 5 ODIs, 4 Test matches and 3 T20s, all scattered across several cities in India.

For all the cricket fans in India, who live for the sake of this gentlemen’s game, is pretty excited as they will be able to see their team play almost after a year. The last was the game with Sri Lanka in November 2014. But the best part is, their wait is going to be finally over with a bang as BCCI has some pretty amazing plans for this series.

In an exclusive interview with The Times of India, Anurag Thakur told, “We have some big plans for the upcoming series. Both the countries share common struggle, common history. We are planning a big launch of the series on 21st September in Bangalore. We will make some major announcements their and launch a few initiatives related to the series.”

The Gandhi-Mandela Series

The two boards of the Cricket South Africa and BCCI have together announced that all the future matches between India and South Africa will be termed as Mahatma Gandhi-Nelson Mandela series. This upcoming test series will be played for the Freedom Trophy. On naming this series as Gandhi-Mandela, Haroon Lorgat, Chief Executive CSA, announced, “For the people of both our countries there is no greater duty than to uphold the ideals of both Mahatma Gandhi and Nelson Mandela. As cricket-loving people we must fight hard to win on the field of play but never forget to do battle in the spirit of these two great men.”

Preparations in Full-Swing

The BCCI is already busy with the preparations of this series between India and South Africa and is also organizing everything for the upcoming T20 World Cup in 2016 which will be hosted in India. Also, the venues of the matches have been already announced and preparations of the game are going on in full swing. The upcoming one is the Dharmasala T20 on 3rd of October and currently, the Indian team is going through a skill conditioning camp in Bangalore at the National Cricket Academy.
